SUMMER IS UPON US AND SO ARE THE OPPORTUNISTS – BEWARE!

The season is in full-swing for asphalt repairs and this means the “Travelers” aka “Gypsies” are already working your neighborhood. Watch out for asphalt contractors with out-of-state license plates (Clue #1) with an 800 Number (Clue #2) who have “extra asphalt” on their trucks (Clue #3) and say they will give you a sweet deal on a fresh surface of asphalt today if you just say yes and sign the contract (Clue #4). There are many other clues, but Clues 1-4 tell us this contractor is an opportunist who lies to get you to sign a contract and rarely ever makes good on his end of the deal.

Clues #1 & 2 – He is not local and will most likely never return your calls once he is done taking your money.

Clue #3 – There is no such thing as “extra asphalt” leftover from a job. Asphalt must maintain a certain temperature to be laid properly and reach its maximum density when compacted. If he has “extra asphalt”, it is not at an optimum temp for installation and should not be installed, unless you don’t care if it comes up in two years or less.

Clue #4 – “Sweet deals” will sour in your stomach later. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Oil prices have driven up costs for asphalt and the particular products and services used to lay it. ADVICE: Take a clue or two from us or you will regret it later!
